To build lasting connections in an inclusive community where we share good food, skills and company
To explore what it means to be food secure, self-sufficient and resourceful
To empower people to lead, collaborate and experiment with food through hands-on learning
Joey Liu created The Food Connection as a way to explore food security together with old and new friends in her community. Joey is deeply involved in Vancouver's local food movement.
The Food Connection began in 2013 with the help of a Neighbourhood Small Grant from Vancouver Foundation and a partnership with Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House.
In addition to our potlucks and workshops, we engage with folks in Mount Pleasant and beyond through community events and our work on the Mount Pleasant Food Network Steering Committee.
Our awesome team now makes three (pictured):
Nicola Dunne, Jenny van Enckevort, Joey Liu.
The Food Connection is an open community of food-loving folks who meet for potlucks and free food workshops every last Wednesday of the month.
Come make friends with your neighbours!
